Mt. Aso, the symbol of the "Land of Fire".
Volcanic smoke is pluming up from the mountain and the wind is galloping through the vast caldera grassland.
In the distance, picturesque sunset over the islands can be seen.
Magnificent Kumamoto Castle soars into the sky.
Marvelous view interwoven with the power of nature and long long history deeply moves all the visitors. From the sea to the earth, Kumamoto has a treasure-trove of foods, including fish, shellfish, rice, and fruits and vegetables.
All of us look forward to seeing you in Kumamoto with the warmest hospitality.

Kumamoto is located in the center of Kyushu Island, around the same area as Taiwan or the Netherlands, in the southwest part of Japan.
Kumamoto is filled with charming attractions and is less than a two hour drive from other major cities in Kyushu, such as Fukuoka City.
It is only 1 and a half hours away from Tokyo and 1 hour away from Osaka by airplane.
Osaka and Kumamoto are now only 2 hours and 59 minutes apart by train due to the completion of the Kyushu Shinkansen line this March (2011). Fukuoka and Kumamoto were brought as close as 33 minutes by train.
